In the waning moments of summer in the year of 2009 we cut through years of doubt, drama, and broken dreams to enter into the season of PYNK. While this was a quiet and semi-formal event attended by a few friends, family, staff, and media; it was the lack of “buzz” – that I had grown accustomed to at ribbon cuttings (this being our third in three years) – that struck me. The quiet weight of a small gathering of people in such a tremendous space hearkened memories of singing my alma mater on graduation or the performance of “Holy Ground” on my wedding day… This quietude, to me, is a symbol the beginning of something special that I have still yet to wrap my arms about…

There have been those that describe humans as creatures of habit, while this is partly true I would like to upgrade that assertion and say we are beings of momentum, because habits are made to be broken. Explanation: What ever direction that we have gained momentum in, it takes effort to change that direction. Because of this very reason we are often wary of new experiences…

We at PYNK understand this delima and would like to help ease the yolk of change by providing here a no risk, no effort, taste of the PYNK experience (or the experience of being PYNK’d). So in the coming weeks we will illustrate some of the qualities of our experience that have caused so many to become weekly participants and we are confident that you will also. Remember there is strength in numbers.
