Midtown Mall Walk
When: October 22, 2011 / Registration Opens at 8am
The Midtown Mall Walk is a local series of run/walk fundraising events that gives proceeds from each event to local community based organizations needs including, but not limited to need-based clients and programs that support women, girls and individuals with special needs.
The Midtown Mall Walk on October 22 will benefit Project Think Pynk. Project Think Pynk is a South Carolina non-profit organization that supports healthly lifestyle initiatives for women and girls. The funds raised from this event will be used to provide cranial prosthesis to women that have experienced hair loss as a result of chemotherapy.
A cranial prosthesis is a custom-made wig specifically designed for patients who have lost their hair as a result of medical conditions or treatments, such as alopecia areata, alopecia totails trichotillomania, chemotherapy, or any other clinical disease or treatment resulting in hair loss. Cranial prosthesis also help to protect disease-weakened immune systems from the sun, and to regulate body temperature.
The beneficiaries of these cranial prosthesis will be nominated by the local community and announced at the conclusion of the October 22 Midtown Mall Walk event.
Additional prizes will be awards to winners of the outdoor 5k and indoor 1k. This event is perfect for the entire family and people of all fitness levels.
